Our vision is a world in which safe seating enables maximum freedom, self-determination and quality of life. With pioneering work in the field of smart pressure relief cushions, we create innovative technological solutions that redefine long and carefree sitting.
How it all started
It all started with Uwe Schonhardt‘s desire to significantly improve the daily challenge of pressure relief for people using wheelchairs. As a passionate occupational therapist at REHAB Basel, a clinic for neurorehabilitation and paraplegiology, he is confronted with the treatment and prevention of pressure ulcers on a daily basis.
Time and again, it becomes clear that today‘s seat cushions often do not provide the necessary relief to adequately protect wheelchair users from complications. Non-automated seat cushions require regular, active pressure relief, which is challenging to implement in everyday life. Too little pressure relief is a significant risk factor for the development of pressure ulcers.
That’s why a new generation of pressure-relief cushions is needed – intelligent, automated, and tailored to the needs of each individual.
